Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hoagie rolls toasted

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon.
  • Stir in diced onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened.
  • Season with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  • Add Worcestershire sauce and ketchup, stirring to coat the beef mixture.
  • In a small bowl, mix beef broth and cornstarch, then pour into the skillet.
  • Simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Reduce heat to low, place cheese slices on top, and let them melt.
  • Scoop the beef mixture onto toasted hoagie rolls and serve immediately.

Notes

For a cheesier version, mix shredded provolone or mozzarella into the beef before serving.
Make it gluten-free by using gluten-free hoagie rolls or serving over rice.
Try adding mushrooms for a richer, more authentic cheesesteak flavor.
For a spicy kick, mix in diced jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
Serve with French fries, a simple salad, or roasted veggies for a complete meal.
